Always Waiting

I saw the moon set
this morning
Pink like a winter sun
Hovering over and above the trees
For just a moment
A bright flare
Dips down below
The tree line
And I saw the end of you

Sitting and waiting
Always waiting
For time and space to realign
While the stars are circulating
Around hearts and scars
Skin and bones are at war
With waiting
Always waiting

I saw cotton candy clouds
this morning
Saffron stripes through pink and peach
Reflecting in last night puddles
As tires pull them apart
Flow back together
Moves like mercury
Inside me
And I saw the end of us

Sitting and waiting
Always waiting
For time and space to realign
While the stars are circulating
Around hearts and scars
Skin and bones are at war
With waiting
Always waiting

I saw your reflection on the lake
this morning
Tear streaked gray and pink
Melting into pools of blue
Ripples expanding
With each drop
Parts of your heart
Dripping out
And I saw the end of me

Sitting and waiting
Always waiting
For time and space to realign
While the stars are circulating
Around hearts and scars
Skin and bones are at war
With waiting
Always waiting

Forever waiting
For the start of us
