Reflection
Stars evanesce into what's left of an ebony sky,
Dawn's first light is close at hand, as I step
onto my terrace inhaling that crisp morning
mist as it hangs heavy in the air
Cordillera mountain peaks make a picturesque
backdrop as the sun rises higher and higher
the soft, warm rays greet a new day
Reflecting fondly on adolescent years, I am
reminded of hopscotch played by the water's edge,
memories forever framed in the recesses of my mind
Sunlight bathes sea, topography and sky,
reminiscent of a childhood profoundly missed
A kiss gently placed on the nape of my neck brings me
back to the loving embrace of my husband,
We both stand, give praise to the amazing,
grandeur of our environment.
