Autumn love
She is my autumn child
The season of change
Ever so free and wild
Eternally beautiful and strange
Auburn locks frame her face
As she smiles up at me
She travels many a place
The way it aught to be
Her pale, porcelain skin
Draped in red, yellow and gold
Glorious without and within
Even as the season turns cold
She is the fluttering of leaves
As her days mature
And sure as a knife cleaves
She becomes more pure
But she is also the season of ends
She is a time of dying
And though we part as friends
She leaves me here crying
Something so perfect never lasts
Something so loved cannot stay
As though I had a season's fasts
So must she fade away
But I will remember how she kissed
And how she drew me near
Those days with her will be missed
As proved by lonely tear.
