Losing You

I said goodbye to her that night
In a kiss that sealed our fate.
That quick kiss felt like “goodbye”
And it was.
Because the next day I was told
To be a little less selfish.
To think of you more.
First of all,
Bitch.
I was riding the back seat,
Thinking nothing of the world around me.
Your friend was driving.
You took shotgun, naturally.
I thought nothing of the world around me.
Just wished for once you'd sit with me.
I just wished you had a clear mind
(As one's mind gets when they're with you).
If that kiss was goodbye,
We are friends, right?
Are we always gonna be that and nothing more?
Most of me is okay by that,
But part of me can't help but wonder what if
And is it selfish of me to want more?
That kiss with parted lips and parted ways.
This is a new chapter.
Time to think less about me, about us.
More about you, about getting better.
This is right.
Mental health is important.
Losing you...was important?
Time tells the greatest tale.
I await the resolution and hope that
This
Wasn't our story's climax.
