Self destroyed
When do roses cease to be
Only in eyes on lonely trees
I find I listen patiently
Disturbed
Nothing is said or heard in me
So instead I listen to the songs that feed the night
And for a glimpse these stars are truly bright
Self destroyed
Expression dies
They only twinkle in my eyes
Fantasy dissolved away
Into an almost fatal presentation of the new day
These ups and downs grow weary
Tired
Betrayed by hope
Somehow
I’m still inspired.
Only in eyes on lonely trees
I find I listen patiently
Disturbed
Nothing is said or heard in me
So instead I listen to the songs that feed the night
And for a glimpse these stars are truly bright
Self destroyed
Expression dies
They only twinkle in my eyes
Fantasy dissolved away
Into an almost fatal presentation of the new day
These ups and downs grow weary
Tired
Betrayed by hope
Somehow
I’m still inspired.
