Patty Cake, Patty Cake

Don't wait for the affirmation and celebration of others to feel great
You'll be waiting a mighty long time and that'll be a major mistake
It may take your wake for others to awake from their slumber
To open their eyes and realize how you always came with that thunder

Don't blunder when taking the steps to better yourself
The reflection in the mirror will be there for you more than anyone else
Make moves in stealth to prevent them from sprinkling salt on your game
Pursue what makes YOU happy and never let another defer your dreams

At times it may seem that you can't win for losing
That something always prevents what you're executing
That's life testing you to see if you'll be able to persevere
You've got to keep on pushing even if you drop a few tears

Never let fear dictate the moves that you make
That right there will lead to an inevitable check mate
Save your crumbs until you have your own delicious cake
Don't settle for a serving, get the recipe and learn how to bake
