Sophia the Snake

Deep within the jungles of Burcinia
A bed of golden snakes slither through the vegetation
Looking for a host for their mistress, Sophia
A true deadly pest to the island nation.

Their distinctive rattle is the last thing heard
Before Sophia’s children snatch their prey
With a poisoned bite, the snakes move on undisturbed
Eager to commence their monthly feast day.

She bears her offspring during the summer solstice
And lays her eggs within a beating chest
Occasionally the Aura board a sailing ship
And embark on a voyage to the west.

Pitiful are the ones who become her host
Forced to raise her carnivorous children
The unwilling hosts are soon betrothed
To Sophia, the terrible reptilian.

Author's Note
This is a local lore/song of the island nation, Burcinia, east of the continent, Agax Seucai. Other breeds of snakes don't exist on the island, hence locals can easily identify the Aura and flee. Aura is the group name of Sophia's snakes due to their gold coloring.
