Red is all I See
she was a master at rule breaking
opening the forbidden drawer
she swore she’d keep shut
reaching under silk and lace
she held her favorite enemy
her best friend
her perfect storm
and with the snap of a finger
the blink of an eye
she had committed a deadly sin
no demon could deny
but in that moment
in that silence
it was calm
not even a breeze
not a drop of rain
it felt right, it felt okay
until the red began to show
she could smell a hurricane
not even a mile away
caught in the middle of a storm
caught red handed
gone was the color of her world
under heavy breath, she whispered
“red is all I see”
opening the forbidden drawer
she swore she’d keep shut
reaching under silk and lace
she held her favorite enemy
her best friend
her perfect storm
and with the snap of a finger
the blink of an eye
she had committed a deadly sin
no demon could deny
but in that moment
in that silence
it was calm
not even a breeze
not a drop of rain
it felt right, it felt okay
until the red began to show
she could smell a hurricane
not even a mile away
caught in the middle of a storm
caught red handed
gone was the color of her world
under heavy breath, she whispered
“red is all I see”
