Image for the poem kiss the dawn

kiss the dawn

tender is the night who stole my breath
delicate notes of love
captured in an exhale

the night was enraptured by my light
he sought to keep me for his own
knowing how to pleasure a woman
I fell for his charm

I danced on moonbeams
as stars fell from his hair
he touched me gently
stirring a passion deep within

he whispered
"I hold a piece of your heart
I've claimed you for my own
you name is now Lady Dark"

"the great light within you
gifts others with visions
I will they be blind to you
lest they steal you from me"

inside the night's embrace
I was well hidden
standing in his shadow
so that none would see me

soon my light began to fade
and the sun in me
it now paled to the moon who outshone

my gentle knight was a soul thief
my eyes finally opened
when the dawn came to my aid

saying
"come home child of the day
you are needed"

"shine your light so all will see
the truth rises on your heart as the sun does"
