I Am the Sky

“You are the sky- everything else is just the weather”
Is what I’d always hear from my loving parents
“Don’t take no for an answer; the sky is your only limit”
Just like the gentle wind, life is a constant movement.

Up in the heavens is where I want to be
Have my life-story shared among the stars
I want to be a hero, just like Hercules
Yet my parents always said: “We love you just the way you are.”

I want to become as mighty as Zeus
Throw down my obstacles with lightning bolts
Push back all oppression and rise above the smoke
Fly among the thunderstorms and feed off their volts.

Yet here I am, stuck down on Earth
If I don’t focus enough, life passes by me in a blur
I still can’t help but daydream of adventure
