reflection in the mirror
do you know what you see whe you look in the mirror
ofcourse it is you , take a look closer
do you recognise the face before you
or are you at a distance , like a frog looking into a pool of water
a dolphin shown a mirror for the first time
do you know what you see
or are you completely out of touch with your reality
saddening to look into a mirror and just see a face
sometimes the image speaks of nobody of importance
sometimes an adult, a child, emptiness floating within my eyes
sometimes i see a somebody but then it floats back to worthless nobody
the reason the frog cannot see himself is because he doesn't know himself
when you know with full meaning just who you are
then you can grasp your reflection, no questions asked
uncertainty avoidable
the dolphin who sees her reflection for the first time
she is excited and happy with the image reflected back
when her sense of identity has become unsettled
confused and scattered, that look in the mirror
just another saddening experience
no longer seeing a dolphin, just a standing fish
standing in the sea, confused frog anytime
if you find an image reflected back at you
not a person , a frog or a dolphin
you are almost looking at a photo of yourself
unsettled and startled, a divide, distance, a barrier
to grasping who you really are
you put the mirror down because you cannot grasp
the distance taken in by your eyes
you walk away without your reflection upsetting your soulful eyes
but you still feel the confusion , the lack of knowing,
the many identities floating around your dissociated mind
what is the point in looking in a mirror if you are in pain?
you see a pained face shouting back at you
to speedily look away
where is the meaning in taking a glance
feeling unloveable and worthless
no meaning at all
the only time it's worth taking up that mirror
is when you feel good about yourself
you have a sense of confidence in who you are
loving and accepting yourself
the only time
oh, don't forget to look when it's make up time
add that onto the list
