I CAN'T HEAR ANYTHING
I CAN'T HEAR ANYTHING
It's quiet in here
The voices aren't talking today
I might have expressed an offensive thought
which has driven them away
Isolated in this dismal searing light
The only sounds I hear now
are the barking of a distant dog
somewhere out there in the barren emptiness
The chatter of children across the way
celebrating a birthday of some kind
Laughter and shrewd drunken voices
of youth bellow a shriek in silence
by the swimming pool
a violent violet bikini-clad silhouette
of perfected bland tan and blonde flesh
dives into watered down liquid noise
The voices in my head are dead
and have left me in this world instead
Today shrieking birds scream and sing
I can't hear anything
It's quiet in here
The voices aren't talking today
I might have expressed an offensive thought
which has driven them away
Isolated in this dismal searing light
The only sounds I hear now
are the barking of a distant dog
somewhere out there in the barren emptiness
The chatter of children across the way
celebrating a birthday of some kind
Laughter and shrewd drunken voices
of youth bellow a shriek in silence
by the swimming pool
a violent violet bikini-clad silhouette
of perfected bland tan and blonde flesh
dives into watered down liquid noise
The voices in my head are dead
and have left me in this world instead
Today shrieking birds scream and sing
I can't hear anything
