Gone for now
I heard you are still beautiful
your smile is still as bright
you built a house and settled down
and everything's alright.
I heard you married years ago
and live a happy life
with Dan, your man, in Idaho
and Rachel who is five.
I heard the earthquake robbed your home
and Dan and Rachel died
you started drinking alcohol
and nothing is alright.
I heard the neighbours heard you shout
and when your screaming died
the lights went out inside your house
a gunshot filled the night
I heard you're still as beautiful
your smile still shines as bright
on pictures and on photographs
where you still were alright.
your smile is still as bright
you built a house and settled down
and everything's alright.
I heard you married years ago
and live a happy life
with Dan, your man, in Idaho
and Rachel who is five.
I heard the earthquake robbed your home

and nothing is alright.
I heard the neighbours heard you shout
and when your screaming died
the lights went out inside your house
a gunshot filled the night
I heard you're still as beautiful
your smile still shines as bright
on pictures and on photographs
where you still were alright.
