What snow can reveal

As the area was getting hit by snow
The wind that continued to blow
State workers worked around the clock
Using every plow and bag of salt in stock

The air became very cold
As men did what they are told
In the day and throughout the night
Trying to make roads safer by doing right

Despite the fact there is a lack of money
Results and expectations remained high, a joke far from funny
Air plane flights where cancelled and accidents where created
Decisions and timing very much debated

Limited food and rest
These men are often pushed to the test
As many rack up hours and over time
Government does not like paying people who do not do crime

Safety should be a major concern
Despite the cost and budget burn
After all it's in the employees hands
The constant attention of roadway demands

Even their lives are in danger
Despite the fact they are not celebrities, just a normal stranger
As states cut pay and hours
Effecting quickness and quality that currency powers

It is now for the public to see
What deficit's do to you and me
To every state worker in our nation
