Past the Flame
So here's where I lay
Grass and flowers seem to enjoy my stay
Yet for some reason I know they lie
So I stood up and watched the clouds by and by
I then thought of how we were, happy enough
My heart changed, peace left me, hate crept in, tough.
I moved on, sadly you couldn’t join me
I sought the future, the endless fears bestowed me
You were in my heart, sadly it changed, my view
You left this world, left my mind anew
You robbed me of my love, joy and happiness
Gave me, a gift you called it, hate sorrow stress
Constantly my mind is racing, yet can’t find a solution
To the anger, misery, hatred wars, total pollution
And as I stood, staring past the flame
I realized you and me aren't the same
You fought for love in war, me justice in anger
And then you died, left me in my darkest hour.
