His Everthing

He stares down, into her cold, distant eyes.
His eyes explore her naked, unmoving body.
Wake up!!
Is he begging himself to wake up, or pleading her to?
His scream comes before his tears.
Then the sky falls down.
The world is gone.
There’s nothing left for him but fallen towers and dried up seas.
The once singing angels morph into screeching devils.
There’s no one else anywhere.
The streets are empty.
He runs and runs and runs until his feet threaten to fall off of his legs.
He looks up at the empty, red sky and lets out a scream, which is so loud it makes his own ears bleed.
He continues running, and runs so far he speeds directly off of the earth.
Then he falls.
He lands back where he started.
He cries, his gaze locked on her stone-cold face.

She dances and smiles and cries.
He reaches out to touch her, but the second his fingertip touches her skin, she changes.
Her eyes fade to red, her teeth sharpen, her skin flares.
His fingertip burns, and he is then face to face with the demon of his dreams.
He begs God to stop this all.
But why would God even let it happen?
Just then, everything he’s ever known, ever believed in flashes before him.
And then, then, it all goes black……………
