The Window Read

The velvet voice of Sade from the boombox
seducing the moment with coy suggestions
belly to bed, active legs, kicking in knee-high socks.

Riveting pulp laced with candid confessions
reading a paperback, twisting lengthy locks
of blonde hair and craving the same kind of attention.

The only escape to quell the tying of knots
is to swim in the language of unusual fictions
and extract from the narrative, a collection of wants.

She hears a scrape on the window, and she shifts from position
it should be ignored, but it holds the power to taunt
as the curious pull fuels a timid decision.

She pulls on the window, once again to be caught
by the latest attraction and a read that it is hot.
