Apple Boy
You come to me in your overalls,
eyes aglow with the sunset.
I know why you’re here, but not why you chose me.
After all - who am I to fall in love with a colorful quilt of a person,
each square telling another tale
of bumbling hay rides
and lazy guitars?
Your boots are too big; they fall off, one by one
when you dangle your legs,
sitting on the back
of your father’s truck.
Messy brown hair, cute grin and all, you come to me,
just to share a moment in the orchard.
eyes aglow with the sunset.
I know why you’re here, but not why you chose me.
After all - who am I to fall in love with a colorful quilt of a person,
each square telling another tale
of bumbling hay rides
and lazy guitars?
Your boots are too big; they fall off, one by one
when you dangle your legs,
sitting on the back
of your father’s truck.
Messy brown hair, cute grin and all, you come to me,
just to share a moment in the orchard.
