Just a dream

I dreamt we ran away
That you reached out
and took my hand in yours.
‘Come with me’ you said
We’ll go far away
disappear without a trace.
No one will find us
We’ll live a life that will be just ours.
A life full of love and laughter
One free of pain and guilt.
They’ll be no aching for each other
No yearning to be close
as we’ll be side by side.
Our bodies entwined every night
Wrapped up as one so tight.
Bringing so much joy.

I woke up missing you.
I turned in my bed
facing another ....
it was all just a dream.
I felt pain and guilt and
I ached for you.
Just the start of another day.
