You Used to Say

The universe is enfolding exactly as it should be,
you used to say.

I wonder if you believe it now.

If I was going to die it would have already happened,
you used to say.

I wonder what you think about that now.

Don’t worry about me!  I’m worried about you,
you used to say.

I don’t want to say I told you so but . . .

I don’t know where you’ve gone.

I looked up at the sky last night and felt you in the stars
I hope you’re looking down on me
You can’t just not be here anymore.
That's entirely impossible.

Someone like you doesn’t just cease to exist.
