Mirage in May

I can see a sweet-sweet man in a sweet-sweet suit
carrying a sweet-sweet case to his sweet-sweet car

I can't see the sweet man's face, for he's always turned away
I want to see his sweet-sweet eyes above his sweet-sweet smile
and shake his sweet-sweet hand alongside, "how do ya do?"

I place a determined hand among the man, his shoulder.
Frozen, was the world as the sugar began to heat
The oil dripped from his eyes, showing he was not reluctant for me to meet
I saw a man break that day
I know of a second
I embraced the carnage of a past that's so wretched
I know his gasoline smile will light the dark
I know that he has a sweet-sweet heart that he hides in the dark
