Take 2

Quiet on the set
Everything’s in place
Nobody’s called action yet
People sit stiff and stare
Tension’s high
Anticipation fills the air
I don’t dare
To make a move
And risk catching glares
From everybody in the room
But who knew about this role
This part I drew
Of random unimportant dude number 2
Sits in the back
Out of focus, out of tune
While stars shine bright
And take all the good lines
While I fight
For just a little bit of camera time
Man they can’t hack it
It’s my life that they are acting in
Damn sure making a mess of it
Who wrote this shit script again?
Oh yeah that’s me
My name’s on page one
How I could I leave my legacy
Up to someone else who’s not me
Portray my likeness
Where everybody can see
How lame this wreck
Of a project can be
I could collapse
Roll my eyes and say fuck it
Instead I’ll rise up
Shake my head and yell “Cut!”
This is my show
Get your ass off stage
Because I’m about to blow
Throw hands and rage
Done being an extra
It’s time to engage
Run it back, flip the script
And write a brand new page
