Privilege

Consume.
Blind yourself
with light.
Keep your eyes
unadjusted
to the dim and the dull.
You'll never see the fireflies
or Cygnus
on a warm summer night.
You'll be indoors, in love,
but only surface level.
Your grass is turf and artificial.
Your mansion is illuminated
by aesthetic brights.
Your garden tended
by an immigrant
with a yearning heart
that fights-
For a better life.
That is the strife. You
have forgotten or never knew.

The grass is always greener, but your sky was always blue.
