To Have And To Hold

The day of our wedding was the happiest of my life... little did I know, the worst was yet to come.

The first red flag was on our honeymoon where you grabbed my wrist way too tight and told me that you’re just so relieved to finally have me forever. I wrote it off as passion but, It only went down hill from there.

I remember the first time you hit me. But of course it was my fault, I just made you so angry and I should have known better.

The first time I tried to run as you hit me me you reminded me that I was yours “to have and to hold”.

At the hospital with my first broken bone you apologized profusely. “I’m so sorry “, “I don’t know what came over me”, “It’ll never happen again”, “You know I love you right?” But on the way home as you gripped my shoulder you reminded me again. That I’m yours to have and to hold.

I died a month later. You just couldn’t stop beating me. I had made you angry again, stupid me. But the look on your face when you realized I was gone was one of anger, not remorse. Because you knew I was no longer yours to have, and to hold.

I still watch you, living your life after convincing the police that I tripped down the stairs. I also saw that you’ve found someone. A new target for your abuse. She doesn’t know the monster you are, but I do. I see the ring you’ve bought and that she’s coming over right now.

The thing is, I can’t just let you hurt someone else, I can’t let her end up dead too. So with all my anger and hurt I manage up just enough energy to give you a push... the police believe you’ve tripped down the stairs by accident. But now you’re dead, and you’re mind to have and to hold... forever.
