Absence

                         It was in your care
                      And that gentle hope
Conceived by a naive and romantic mind
                    Was destroyed by you

For love cannot be in competition
                        With anxiousness
                         Nor with the fear
                         Of being unequal

                    Hope tries to endure
                            Yet cannot
                     As fear will continually
                      Mock and deprive it

Hope, my hope of your love
                            Has died
Therefore my love must someday die as well
