Heavy Depression
It is like a dark cloud is hanging over your head.
It becomes harder to pull yourself out of bed
Every day. Just when you think you get better
That is when it clings to you like a thick sweater,
Trying to suffocate you and pull you back into
The shadows where it lives. It is a battle you
Can never always win. Just when you think
You won is when it will find a way to sink
Into you like thorns, claws, and talons.
It is like you are drowning in water gallons
Deep and with no life preserver in sight.
It is like you are too afraid to take flight
And leave. A part of you stays rooted
And believes in things that are so diluted
Or false. It is hard to take off the blindfold
To see the world as shiny. You have enfolded
Yourself within the darkness and stay there
No matter if there is light or any air.

To see the world as shiny. You have enfolded
Yourself within the darkness and stay there
No matter if there is light or any air.
