Red Mist Among Us

for when the red mists rise from the void,
and swirl among the twisted trees,
along with the sands of time,
emotions will melt and soak the cobble stones,

as the Lady in Green counts her pearls,
bones of children litter the hills,
a wolf hunts down our shadow,
past's perfume leaves its taint on the wind,

rivers of gold the veins of the mountains,
the dead leaves murmur in the Old Tongue,
forgotten gods cry from the depths of oblivion,
strumming the four strings of the seasons,

we've all heard the Song of Time,
from the lungs of the one standing atop life's fountain,
beggars walk by the Garden of Ollueth,
indifference is the shadow from our soul,

a drop of guilt in the endless sea of regret,
the tide rising as punishment from our sons and daughters,
under a crimson sun the white sands don't shine,
cutting our feet like broken glass,

there is a white tree on top of the world,
surrounded by black roses that bleed,
we gather around it like worms for a feast,
we cover our mouths and utter an empty prayer,

the echoes of laughter a long lost memory,
wrapped in ambar the filaments of reason decay,
the lifeless hills of endurance prevail,
under the raven's eye we wait for a last chance to dance,

a forest of mirrors where sanity escapes us,
we travel its depths and hope for a clearing,
tainted rain from acid clouds soak the hungry land,
mud and blood clung to our feet like an obsessive lover.
