Beautiful Garden
Sometimes when I look at you the very breath in my chest escapes my lips. My heart begins to hurt, but not in the way that you think it might. It hurts in wonder, in awe because it’s by some miracle that someone as pure as you loves someone as dark as me with so many demons behind my smile. I fought them alone for so long that I forgot what it was to live without them. Yet here you are every day slowly helping me take them out one by one, and in their place you give me a piece of your light in the form of a seed. Every time you smile at me, every time you hold me, every time you challenge me to be more each seed begins to bloom. You tell me I am beautiful each passing day without fail, and with your tender love and care I will someday become a beautiful garden of blooming flowers. I was out of breath and you breathed a new life into me so I could begin again anew.
