The Night

They laughed and threw change,
not knowing the strangers pain.
No wife, no children his life was in vein.
In a dark and damp alley alone he sat there tame.

It started well in school, college and education
Even fortunate enough to be taken on vacation.
Good kid, straight A's and a solid ambition
His future looked positive with amused superstition.

As a young adult he started divulging into precarious stuff.
Unknown to him, it would get a bit rough.
Drink and speed from an unknown trough,
Was the fatal mixture which killed them off.

Ninety on the freeway was a stupid choice,
With the glance to the left he forever will remember her voice.
A cry which will forever be a white noise.

As he remembers the night he gets a chill.
The picture will remain eerily still.
No more hugs no more kisses,
He wanders through life without a Mrs.
Just a slow motion depiction of which he was the only witness.

They laughed and threw change,
not knowing the strangers pain.
No wife, no children his life was in vein.
In a dark and damp alley alone he sat there tame.

With regret and distaste he wanders the streets,
dreaming of one night with her just to rest and have peace.
The smell of her hair made her seem so sweet,
Unfortunately she had gone and it was his souls defeat.

His mind never recovered and his heart was broke.
A short relief was a puff of the grass from the weird bloke.
The fire in his heart became a puff of smoke,
for a brief moment he was happy to be walking with a regular stroke.

They laughed and threw change,
not knowing the strangers pain.
No wife, no children his life was in vein.
In a dark and damp alley alone he sat there tame.

One night it just became too hard to bear.
He sat there crying in despair.
It was the night to reunite and have one more sniff of her hair.
It was time to leave and travel up the golden stairs.

With a step into the noose,
it seemed too easy.
His life was no more a problem,
it simply made his voice wheezy.

Tighter it went as it rasped at his skin,
he knew it was time to reunite with his kin.
Smiling she stood there with that refreshing grin,
he knew it was time to say sorry for his sin...
