Silence in the city

Listen to the sounds of the city as she speaks to me......

And within these walls......the silence screams.

A silence that precedes the storm, this concrete murmur of passing traffic.   This city slumbers.........

Then comes the shot.  Cracking the silence like a fist through glass.....

Then sirens...

All sound stops around my ears
The siren's scream growing now......closing in.....why does it seem like it's getting closer?  Why isn't is passing by just like all the others?

Silence stops at my door..

And in that moment, terror grips my chest...

I recoil in the sickening realization

Staring down at this pool of blood

Senses return and I feel cold steel against my skin....

The gun is in my hand.

What have I done............

WHAT HAVE I DONE?

.......Listen to the sounds of the city as she speaks to me.

Security shatters like the mirror that holds a trembling reflection.

It's visage encased in trepidation.......and I can hear footsteps the size of mountains

....approaching

Just another breath.  Gagging on this caustic wind.

Keep your head and ready your feet, all sound drowns in the pounding of my heartbeat.

I face a door so fragile.
It's pinewood countenance hides a devious smile beneath it's paper thin promise......of security.

Easily swayed by the persuasion of momentum as it seems to explode around me......

The blood mixes with it's splintered remnants.

They've finally come for me

And within these walls........the silence screams
