Living in the Car (true story)

evicted due to back rent
hurt my back
nobody cared
then bad news
other family member
ruined their back
at a factory job
no compensation
no witness
no insurance
American yet we pay taxes
no help
to all the welfare agencies
"You make $10 dollars an hour"
"You are a big shot"
"You need no help"
as we go to food pantries
they try and make us rif-raf
but we are college educated
and not take the abuse
from lower life forms
and we sit in the tin can
like a space ship
crying even
humiliated in the cold
wrapping in blankets
from the church free store
college educated
working full time
and rejected from all the
apartments we sought
"You have an eviction"
they say you _________
yes, and we broke our backs
working hard in America
 now we have no home
this is fair????
so we go around
taking baths
in small sinks
trying not to stink
homeless
educated
car & job
nobody wants our money
for breaking our backs at work
in America?
Is this fair?
so we look for rooms
in the classifieds
full of perverts and
those drilling holes in the walls
to see things
$800 for a one bedroom
room with other derelicts
but they don't want us
the humiliation and pain
crying in the rain
but we fight
and we stay in a fancy hotel
twice a week
and live in the car
5 days
what kind of hell is this anyways?
who cares?
and they try and make us villains
and I hold a doctorate degree
and the other family the same
crying in the rain
unfair
look around at reality
very scary
