Beggar
even a white rose casts a dark shadow
the hallowed know wickedness
in the sickness of despair
and i am but a beggar
begging not for money
not for food
and i know i am a fool
to think i can be free
of you
chain my heart with your eyes
your lies pull me through
synthetic light to guide me on
in this never ceasing night
i cannot stop for breath
for wherever i may go
there will be death
there is a kind of beauty in youth
for innocent mouths only speak truth
and as i watched her eyes crying
she looked at me
with that same begging gaze
a beggar with no name
and it was there we were both the same
She let me hold her soft hands
look into those earthly eyes
starlight shone within those depths
an anchor on those waves of breath
and i am but a beggar
begging not for money
not for food
and i know i am a fool
to think i can be free
of you
she let me take a polished blade
it was a blade with no name
shining like the diamonds in her ears
not a sliver of fear on her face
she felt the pain only once
as i let it glide across her skin
and it was then the world was red
painted in waves which bled
through the cracks
on that tiled white floor
and all the while
i watched her starlight fade to black
and i am but a beggar
begging not for money
not for food
and i know i am a fool
to think i can be free
of you
even a white rose
casts a dark shadow..
