Ink in My Skin
This ink in my skin
Is more permanent from within
Yes it's there physically, externally
But it's meaning is there internally
So even if I lose my arm
My skin falls off
Or some other kind of crazy harm
The message will still be with me
"Why do you need it there when it's always within"
Well it's a great conversation starter, a good place to begin
Sometimes something you can see can take you back
It's easier than trying to remember this or that
It's a kickstart for the brain, to get the thoughts to flow
A thirty second look, and then you'll know
"It's a sin and a disgrace,
You'll never see the holy place"
Well if God works like that,
You better change your pace.
Telling me what's right or wrong, and judging me for my skin
Better take a tally friend, to count up all your "sins"
God loves you no matter what
Or at least that's what is preached
But if I'm damned for just my skin
I think your religion's been breached
Be loving and kind
And non-judgemental
Don't spout hate,
Making people think you're mental
If a religion makes you hate for any reason,
You need a new one
People twisting the Bible's words
And using them like a gun
To shoot down hopes and dreams
All in the name of God,
But if you ask me, it's more like a pyramid scheme
A Preacher's facade.
Corruption and power
Has it's grips on man
Money on their mind,
In their pockets, and their hand
Be a good person and you're set for life
No need for religion if you do what's right
Don't worry about your skin, sex, or the way you dress
Be happy with yourself, to make you your best.
