A Sad Love Poem
I shall write tonight, now,
That I feel my heart
Is like that fountain in the park.
Bursting not of water but
Of emotions that may never come again.
I shall write tonight
For no one knows what is waiting
For the coming nights.
I may not care anymore.
So, tonight,
I give my all in memory of that night.
How I held her under a sky like this –
Full of stars and the moon,
Staring at itself on the rippling pond.
How could I forget that night?
Her eyes, still and sparkling
Her lips of rose, waiting…
Her hair that the subtle wind
Cannot resist to touch.
I looked at her and felt the stillness
And wished and hoped that
That moment could stay forever.
As if I heard the angels sing
And all the soldiers bow
Yes, the heavens sigh
The moment her lips touched mine.
Everything was magic
And colors started to fade
All music stopped
And the world stood still.
To witness the promises we made.
And vows and oaths and pledges
with all certainty…
That night, it was as if everything
Was spelled happiness, no, bliss!
Nothing ever mattered but her
And I wanted to give her everything,
At least ready to die trying.
But that was another night
Distanced by countless other nights.
For tonight, I shall write
What I have been failing to realize
That every man may know
So that every man may see,
I have always loved her
And, one time, she loved me too!
That I feel my heart
Is like that fountain in the park.
Bursting not of water but
Of emotions that may never come again.
I shall write tonight
For no one knows what is waiting
For the coming nights.
I may not care anymore.
So, tonight,
I give my all in memory of that night.
How I held her under a sky like this –
Full of stars and the moon,
Staring at itself on the rippling pond.
