What Happened To Us?
Neither one of us cheated
Neither one of us lied
We both got what we wanted
But now we're both empty inside
Well honey I wanna know
What happened to us?
We thought our love would grow
Who could predict that it would bust?
Did we take it in to fast?
How could the well run dry?
Now our love is in the past
And neither one of us knows why
We shared all of our secrets
We shard our dreams and trust
Our passion's gone but owes no debts
Tell me now what happened to us?
Love and sex walked hand in hand
We loved it soft or rough
We gave it all we had
Maybe we didn't take enough
We could give it one more try
But we won't answer the call
When I stop to wonder why
Maybe it wasn't love at all

I don't think anyone really understands when a relationship goes south. You try to figure it out and come to the wise conclusion that it might not have been love at all. It's a tough call in the midst of passion. Well done Poetryman!

WoW, you really went digging to find this poem! Thanks for reading and commenting. I actually wrote this about 25 years ago. Funny thing is, I can remember writing this like it was yesterday. Some of my older poems are something of a mystery to me, but there are some moments in life that become seared into the memory like a brand on cattle. Oddly, I just read Graces latest poem and saw you had commented on it today, then I click on my updates and your names just popped up for commenting on this. It was very weird, like I was commenting on her poem, right under yours at the same time you were commenting on mine. That's never happened before, at least not on my poems. JJ

Hmm, funny that no one had ever commented on this before, but I was adding poems in rapid fire succession back when I first joined up here, so I guess a bunch of them never got noticed. But it did get 245 reads, so the first 244 readers didn't like it enough to say anything? Hmm, very interesting...
