The Forest

Running through the air
Is my brown, tangled hair
As I sprint, as I push
Through the pain that it takes
To dash back to my home.
To my safety, I roam
Through the forest of
Darkness, where evil does lie.
Step after step,
Where creatures have crept,
Memories of this place
Hover atop my mind.
Where young souls have died,
My young soul has cried,
Peering at my cousin’s
Young corpse as it rotted
Murderous trees, and
Sneaky bumble bees
View the evil that’s done here
With a great love of death.
No good can ever come
Of this forest, there are some
That never make it out
Of this wretched place alive.
My footsteps get faster
Pounding the floor like plaster,
Though I hardly remember
Why I came here at all.
Maybe to just mourn,
For my family so torn
Apart when my sweet
Loving cousin did die.
Finally I see light,
So glorious, so bright!
I kiss the ground, thanking
The Lord that I’m safe.
I dart through the door,
Hug my mom forevermore
That forest I will
Never pass through again.
