Summer Solstice
I planted a seed in my garden today
The soil felt nourishing on my fingers
Then sprinkled warm water gently over the mound
Hoping the seed of this flower will deeply take root
To flower and bloom with radiant pedals
Where nothing has grown for seasons untold
Until the sunshine peeked through the threatening clouds
That refused to rain with drops of the nectar of life
That now sprinkles on me with a rainbow of hope
Summer's first light creates silver threads over my head
Dangling down a lifeline for my heart to climb
The soil felt nourishing on my fingers
Then sprinkled warm water gently over the mound
Hoping the seed of this flower will deeply take root
To flower and bloom with radiant pedals
Where nothing has grown for seasons untold
Until the sunshine peeked through the threatening clouds
That refused to rain with drops of the nectar of life
That now sprinkles on me with a rainbow of hope
Summer's first light creates silver threads over my head
Dangling down a lifeline for my heart to climb
