Primitivity
“The primitive man strived on Survival of the Fittest”
a thought drags our mind
back into an early era
where people lived purely to survive
the compassion thrived in us now
may not have been flourished
in that furious creature
or maybe he was more sensitive than
the people of this century
but there is an ideal to convince ourselves,
we have evolved from the stone age to a modern age
we boast about ourselves as civilised
we eat cooked meals, we smell good and
we have inventions to lift our pride over the moon and the stars
we don’t hunt,
we don’t live in caves
we don’t live like animals
everything in the visual to the human eye
scream this revelation
now bring your irides to the centre
through the point of your nose
blur the reality and look beyond
Do you see the Corporate Jungle?
one hunt a client, the fittest get the credit
cunning gets the bonus and the money runs the show
lioness hunts and the lion comes and eats
jackals wait to feed on leftovers
pampering the king to put on the lion’s coat
vultures shoot out of nowhere and steal the rabbits
and a tree grow slowly
not moving, growing in the same place
watching the dramas, the humour and
the traumas of the denying world
sheltering both the innocence and the violence
live to tell the tale
like I did
like a poet
as a poet
you can cut me down and burn me to ashes
but my seeds will grow to shelter other lives
until one becomes you...
