The Beast and the Fight
It is inside me
This thing
This voice
This nightmare I fight
Every day
Every night
I fight it in my dreams
It sings sweetly
It cajoles
It coerces
It gets angry and rages
Though I fight
I do not always win
I cannot control myself when it wins
When it takes over, I am not myself
I scream
I rant
I rave
I threaten
I curse
Or sometimes
I cry
I despair
I disappear inside
Sometimes the loss is sudden
I know not what happened
Other times it is the slow turning of a tide
The same when I regain control
A hug or smile might help
Fight the beast back
Or hold it at bay
Alas, it might also be lost to time
Though I am joyous
Happy
Giddy with delight
Inside of me is a battle
A beast
A never ending fight
This thing
This voice
This nightmare I fight
Every day
Every night
I fight it in my dreams
It sings sweetly
It cajoles
It coerces
It gets angry and rages
Though I fight
I do not always win
I cannot control myself when it wins
When it takes over, I am not myself
I scream
I rant
I rave
I threaten
I curse
Or sometimes
I cry
I despair
I disappear inside
Sometimes the loss is sudden
I know not what happened
Other times it is the slow turning of a tide
The same when I regain control
A hug or smile might help
Fight the beast back
Or hold it at bay
Alas, it might also be lost to time
Though I am joyous
Happy
Giddy with delight
Inside of me is a battle
A beast
A never ending fight
