Image for the poem Black

Black

Bats are blindly flapping wings
with wild, fluttering spasms,
stark clouds shutter glowing Moon
in chasms veiled by darkness.

Shroud drowns out backdrop
of light's starry beam
as ice sheen shimmers with
suffusing lunar shine,
illuminates whitetail
deer's glassy
mirrored eyes.

Night slides in a dream,
head swims within void.
Ignites fire visions,
that taunt and toy
with thoughts.
Subconscious playing
out wants and desires.

Enjoying bright ideas,
reacting to our fears
within bedimming world
of a cranial black.
