"Marathon Mourning in Boston"
*DEDICATED TO EVERYONE EFFECTED BY THE BOSTON MARATHON BOMBING OF APRIL 2013*
A surge of adrenalin to nix the pain, a rush of fear
For I have been hurt before.
The taste of your lips, my heart skips a beat
You leave, I can’t find my feet.
Your name in my mouth, it must be a dream
The thought too sweet.
A question I ponder is he just another player?
I can’t help but wonder whilst my heart wills a quick surrender.
Feeling a wave of emotion setting a course of action,
No time for further consideration.
A bitten lip fighting energy foreign,
I’m nervous.
‘Was it obvious?’
Dry throat.
‘Did she feel it to?’
Sweaty palms.
‘Sending text’
No response.
‘What happens next?’
Open door.
‘Did she even exist?’
A dream of him, the one everywhere I see.
Hands trembling as a message I accept
Not fully prepped.
Brighten up as I smile through the tears,
Finally someone to understand my fears,
Lighten up the mood with a joke
Before I choke.
Mind racing,
Legs pacing,
Time slowing,
Everything’s fading,
I’m dying,
I think she’s crying.
I cross the finish line,
I can see him so happy
He’s mine.
BOMBS EXPLODE
Debris and smoke fill the road.
A surge of adrenalin cannot nix the pain,
A rush of light,
I see my life.
I taste her lips,
I can finally breathe.
Her name in my mouth was never a dream
‘I’m sorry I have to leave.’
A question I ponder who did this?
I wonder for he was never just another player.
Whilst my eyes watch him surrender.
Feeling a wave of emotion, setting a course for action
To help others
No time for further consideration.
God bless this morning forevermore
