Stitches

I wrote this after I was dumped when I was 17 years old. We were into Nightmare Before Christmas, and his name was Jack so it was cute when we drew pics and wrote notes, etc. This is one of my best poems ever. Enjoy.

Sally, Sally, don't you cry.

That skeleton boy has no alibi.

You don't deserve to be tossed aside,

To cry all those tears you cried!

All he could see was himself.

Never thought of how you felt.

Never did he watch over you,

Like the way you used to do.

Sally, Sally, it's all right.

You did what you could to fight.

He warned you not to get obsessed.

This advice only caused more stress.

Poor little rag doll.

Thought you knew it all.

Believed every word he said.

And now you're left for dead.

Always were too nice to think.

Too blind to see the missing link.

You knew very well the cracks were there,

But to believe was too hard to bear.

Let the Pumpkin King sit on his throne.

Year after year, all alone.

You can just run away from this town,

And never have to come back down.

Smash every pumpkin on your way out.

Scream until you're out of sound.

Push all thoughts of him out of your mind.

Pretend like he was never a part of your life.

The journey will be long,

But those stitches make you strong.

Say good-bye to Halloween.

Say good-bye to everything.

You'll survive, Sally the rag doll.

Jack the Pumpkin King can take his own fall.

There will soon come a day,

When he realizes the mistake he's made.

So carry your needle and your thread.

Now, he's the one who's left for dead.

Never again will your heart bend.

Never again will you call him friend.

So good bye forever!

I will never

Come back to you,

After all I've been through.

Have fun with your Christmas!

Have fun with your ignorance!

You're gonna miss this!

And remember these stitches!
