Tempting the Tempest

Witnessed once a wondrous scene
nature's barrage beyond compare,
from whence they came or brewed
their rage - I was of no aware.

It began with churning whirlwinds
stirring fears across state lines,
saw massive clouds descend a
darkness on this heart of mine.

By mid-day; veiled in blackness
with backdrop of shrouded wall,
  great tempest silhouetted
slice of sky with rolling squall.

Tornado flirted, taunting earth
but would not touch down yet,
that twister spawned a sister
they both danced a minuet.

Wicked troubles endured
with birth of double tempests,
grinding down on landscapes
spinning images of death.

Deafened by loud booming
sounds of locomotion roaring,
the sky a silver picture screen
displayed commotions soaring.

Storm at boiling pressure point
promised to destroy,
propulsion and momentum
tossed a truck just like a toy.

Twisters swath upon me
cast all hailstones it could yield
in a field I shook in fear with
nought my body as a shield.

Windstorm forces pinned me down
I gripped the ground with fear
twin twisters within inches
then both sisters disappeared...
