The Dance
The Garden - Mirah : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZgCKQU_-PsA
All their eyes were on me
As I
Took the stage.
You sat front and center,
Eyes never wandering as my
Hips start slow,
But if you really knew me -
In a song like this,
In a dance like this -
You'd know
The beat would come.
It always does.
And the dance goes.
A girl stomping her feet and petulant;
A woman fuming, fueled by
Passion -
The crowd,
Applauding as she is stripped bare.
I looked, and you were still there.
Staring back with eyes glinting,
But they do not stay,
They don't.
For beside you
Sat her,
Dressed in mint green -
Pristine.
And her hands pulled yours away from
Your cold drink,
And she smiled as she played with the
Condensation on your palm,
And she
Whispered something that made you grin.
As I sauntered on stage to a song winding down,
As I gave these people a wink and my
Signature smile,
She was smiling back.
But as soon as she looked away,
As soon as I was near enough,
You whispered again,
(Again,
Again,)
"Meet me outside."
The curtains closed.
