Would so love to bash the new occupant of the Oval Office  
the business manipulator who prefers tv news to books  
pontificate on the pure capitalistic model to governance  
alas my heart won't let me leave it there

trade agreements that are called "free" but not fair
claiming to embrace diversity while crafting laws  
with mandatory mimimun sentences  
executing a mentally disabled man  
 
Acquising on single payer health care  
failure to prosecute decision makers engaged in torture  
energy policy that devesates the ecology  
policy dictated by monetary rewards  
enabling weapons makers to fracture human life  
 
The operator of the White House has a mode of operation  
that the media saluted and coddled to  
and the tv viewers (us) ate it up
profit and shares the priority to hell with all else  
 
The number one commodity sold by the US is war
drones, missiles, destructive capacity is US
clandestine operations in Latin America  
dictators buying "toys" to slaughter oppositional surges  
 
The sense of the commons and the link to all life  
enemies not clear, create them  
and spark fear of those not orthodox  
now confront the reality  
 
If this nation is truly a republic this too shall pass  
for diffused power is ultimately checked by the people  
hundred million people didn't vote
