The Narcissist

Ladies and gentlemen, under the spotlight stands
nature's most tragic mistake – The egotistic man
physically unremarkable, it has instead
deformed beliefs and a hole for a head
inflated self-importance, bloated to the full
governed by frailty to desire, hate and ego

Guests of the Grandstand, observe as you wish
a fright lucidly not for the squeamish
confined in fallacious notions of love and glory
it feeds most faithful to its god Money–
favored above an unholy trinity of Pride, Vanity, Lust
Oh, the sure fact this freak walks amongst us

A poor creature ornamented with flaws
faults so prominent and once entertaining
man becomes redundant and pitiful as he resists
to yield, and dent the stubborn narcissist
his eagle eyes transfixed at reflections of his own
and this sight, until bitter death, was a sole companion
