Forego

To forego a childhood
Is no light thing
But a dark, depressing
Undertaking
Your tears spill over
In rosy hues
Tinged with the blood they drank
Now your heart is blue
There's no breathing
At the bottom of the sea
And if you were a treasure chest
Somehow you'd be
Less precious than
The corpse of a shark
But more precious than
Perpetual dark
Somewhere in the middle
Is where you're happy to lay
Torn between two lovers;
Warmed by night and day
