Lightning in a Bottle

I can't breathe.
This air doesn't carry your scent.
I can't feel.
Without my fingertips surfing through your hair.

The masters tell the heart not to show its knees.
They say just so it won't be needy.

Call on me so I can hear again
something other than this ringing in my ears.

Speak to me so I can talk and savour the laughter on my tongue.

You don't know how much of my world has changed
in just a few decisive days
of the rest of the unknown.

I like wanting you. I like wanting you. I like wanting you is strength.

Don't make a dull man out of me.
Make me burn like deer in the country.

Give me flavour. Taste my skin.
Whatever you do, don't leave me again.

I puncture the sky with one single finger,
and it rains over the daffodils.
Will you keep my wet flower?
I know the raining stuff is all over it.
But I just felt a little too strong.

It'll bring you down to sleep.
You'll love the way you sleep
with a growing touch to every nerve,
a calm.
