Image for the poem It’s not your fault

It’s not your fault

I know your mind’s been
carried too far from home
/needing help letting go
of that lessened flesh
you’ve been carrying
around / it’s not your
fault, that you were left in
it

I get it/ I really do

trying to love again and
again/ knowing your
heart’s too tired to take
another blow

trying trust from beginning
to the end/ constantly
making your soul shackled
in a unsafe nest / but you
tried anyways

gotta praise the cosmos for
letting him run you into
my arms

-just saying-

he didn't know what to do
with an intricate love like
yours,  it’s not your fault he
couldn’t handle even a
single given portion of you

foolishly wasted you

Whispering: look at me, let’s not
have this discussion again?
