Lucky Man
She wears her finest jewels but I believe that there’s no need
Her eyes outshine the brightest diamond
And she is far more beautiful than any bauble
That could adorn her
My heart breaks just to look at her
I know in my soul that I wouldn’t have a chance with her
If I even possessed the bravery to ask her to dance
My tongue is too thick in my mouth to talk
And my hands sweat at the thought
I wonder who is with her, or who will be
And she slowly takes in the room with those green eyes
Pausing on a person to nod or to wave
And I find her staring at me
I am a comedy of errors with my double take as I look behind me
To see who the lucky man might be
But it is me that she stares at and then smiles
And I find the strength to smile back
Tonight she will be mine
I am the luckiest man in the world
Her eyes outshine the brightest diamond
